Working With An Anxiety Specialist

The first session will include the following:

The initial counseling session is about building a connection with your therapist so that you feel as comfortable as possible. We understand that the topics covered in therapy are not always the easiest to discuss and we do our best to make our time together a safe space for you to process. We do our best to answer any questions or ease any stressors. We will review the online paperwork and give you the space and time that you need to process your past and any related trauma, anxiety, or depression. Together, we will explore the current symptoms you are experiencing, and any current life stressors that may be adding to your symptoms. We will also create a treatment plan during that time.

Your goals for counseling will be clearly outlined:

Your anxiety therapist will create the treatment plan based on your needs and discuss it with you. This is a collaborative process, which means you will have an input with the course of treatment. The treatment plan helps you and the therapist have a point of reference to answer questions such as “How often are therapy sessions needed?” “Are there any improvements within my initial symptoms?” “Is therapy working? If so, how?” etc.

Before the end of your first session, you will be able to schedule your next session. We will continue to work on your goals for therapy and provide a judgment-free space for you to process, heal, and grow. The therapist will offer recommendations to helpful resources. This may include books, videos, articles, and more based on your preference(s).
