Therapy For Couples
“I don’t feel connected to my spouse”
How Dr. Vanessa Works With Couples:
I truly enjoy working with couples! From the first session when nerves are high and hurts are even greater, to the mid-way point when there is a shift from old destructive relationship patterns, to new healthier ones, up until the end of therapy when there is forgiveness that leads to an empowered, confident, and vibrant couple in front of me. This is the ultimate goal in the work we do here at Exhale Counseling Center.
Topics covered in couples counseling:
Balance (work, life, family)
Blended families
Extended family
Infidelity
And more
Goals in couples counseling:
Increased understanding of your partner including their thoughts, emotions, and experiences
Healthier communication skills
Healthier listening skills
Problem-solving strategies
Forgiveness of past hurts (I know this is a tough one, we work together on this)
Commitment to one another
and more!
Some of the counseling modalities that I include in couples counseling:
“Relationships are only difficult when we are too stubborn to recognize that they require two people with different views, opinions, voices, thoughts, and backgrounds to listen, to forgive, and to decide to love each other despite the hardships.”
—Dr. V
Are you and your partner experiencing any issues in the following areas?
Balance (Work/Life/Family)
Are you struggling to find the right balance between all your daily responsibilities? Is this making it harder for you to connect or put in the effort necessary to make your relationships grow? If so, you may be experiencing decreased satisfaction within your relationship.
Blended Families
Have you recently blended different family members? Are your emotions changing based on the interactions between blended family members? Are you finding it more difficult to move forward?
Chronic Illness
You may be going through health problems or living with a loved one with health problems. This is not an easy task on either end. If you need help navigating this, you may benefit from online marriage counseling.
Divorce
Thinking about divorce? When starting online marriage counseling at Exhale Counseling Center, we believe making life-altering decisions during a heightened state of emotion(s) is not wise. Thus, we will explore all avenues before the final step of divorce.
Extended Family
Extended family members can be a blessing. They can offer support, encouragement, and help during our times of need. But, you did not marry or start a relationship with extended family when you decided to be with your partner. Or, did you? If you find your extended family is too close to your relationship, we can help you both navigate this.
Infidelity
Have you and/or your partner been unfaithful? Has this caused symptoms of anxiety or depression? Is it continuing to affect your relationship? Was there an in-depth resolution before you got back together? Are you and your partner struggling to heal and move forward together?
Premarital Counseling/Readiness
We are PREPARE/ENRICH certified for online marriage counseling. We can also provide pre-marital counseling and have training in Couple’s Communication.
